Eligbility For SNAP
Your household must meet certain requirements to be eligible for SNAP and receive benefits. If your State agency determines that you are eligible to receive SNAP benefits, you will receive benefits back to the date you submitted your application. What Happens After You Apply
In most cases it takes 30 day to processs your application. But.. during the 30 days you must complete an eligibility interview and give proof (verification) of the information you provided. The interview is typically completed over the telephone or in-person. If you are found eligible, you will receive benefits based on the date you submitted your application.

How Long Can I Receive SNAP For?
If you are found eligible, you will receive a notice that tells you how long you will receive SNAP benefits for; this is called your certification period. Before your certification period ends, you will receive another notice that says you must recertify to continue receiving benefits. Your local SNAP office will provide you with information about how to recertify.

SNAP Work Requirements
People must meet work requirements to be eligible for SNAP. These work requirements include:
Registering for work;
Not voluntarily quitting a job or reducing hours;
Taking a job if offered; and
Participating in employment and training programs, if assigned by the State.

Failure to comply with these requirements can result in disqualification from the Program.

In addition, able bodied adults without dependents are required to work or participate in a work program for at least 20 hours per week in order to receive SNAP benefits for more than 3 months in a 36-month period.

Some special groups may not be subject to these requirements including:
Children;
Seniors;
Pregnant women; and
People who are exempt for physical or mental health reasons.

  I have been trying to reach someone and all I get are hangup calls or recording indicating to call back later which is an all day process but still no one. I have an interview and I have been again attempting for over one week.

  Absolutely THE WORST. Been trying to get a hold of someone for my qualification interview for DAYS, NO ONE EVER answers the phone! Literally have been on the phone ALL DAY. I received a letter in the mail telling me to call a number for my interview, the call either goes straight to voicemail (which is full) or its rings and rings and then it goes to the full voicemail. In the letter it says I will be disqualified if I don't make my phone interview well how am I supposed to make it if I cant get through to anybody anywhere and nobody is calling me and I cant even leave a message? Absolutely the most terrible government office anywhere in the country.

  Why did they not take a copy of my ID when I came in and they say they need more verifications but they needed a copy of my ID and needed it by today and they had it in front of them and did not copy just told me show my ID and have pay stub scanned in this is infuriating that I did what I was supposed to but they didn’t scan my ID in but looked ay it! So i get denied more than likely when I did what I needed to. Mind you I have called and talked to people also! Did exactly what the person I interviewed with told me to do! Take my ID and show to prove my identity and have them scan the pay stub how ridiculous that I finally reach someone and they tell me they need to see my ID i showed it! It’s not my fault they did not copy or do what they needed to with it! I am a full time student working part time so I truly need things to be done properly!

  I have an application in the and I would like to know why I have to renew my benefit , why the department can,t go on my application that I have in .Becouse my house hole income have not change I don,t have income coming in they cut me short of my SSI and I am short of my snap benefit .
