Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program

SNAP is the current program name previously known as the Food Stamp Program.

States Administer their SNAP Food Stamps Programs in Different Ways Than Others

It is allowable for states to set different guidelines and rules for providing SNAP Benefits which is why it is important to check your individual states rules even for this Federal Program. One example is waiver policies. States can request waivers for flexibility in their EBT Systems.

Paid Out Through EBT

State welfare systems have their own EBT program cards. SNAP Food Stamps are paid out digitally through their EBT systems.
